To You (yes you),
There is so much said about how to believe in yourself and build self confidence and keeping up positivity, that it is nearly blinding. Up to the point, where it is almost natural to experience the opposite of what is intended. And in all honesty, my intention is only to keep you away from that and nothing more.
So here is some poetry, for the days when you don’t feel very good about yourself. Read on and make of it what suits you.
It’s maybe a cloudy day today,
And the rays of the Sun don’t reach you yet.
But you know that well, and you know that how
For you’ve seen better days.
When you glowed in the orange and kissed the yellow,
When blue was only the beauty of the ocean
And pink, your smile.
You hold those days close,
Their memories in your heart.
For you know it well,
That these times are like waves.
That it’s you for you
And me for me,
That it is you, alone conquering the world,
For the universe is already within you.
And with that, you walk long enough
Taking steps like a baby –
Fumbling,
Falling,
Maybe even failing,
But only ever forward.
And you keep walking,
Sometimes seeking help
Other times offering some,
Until it feels like a million miles,
Until the path seems yours
And the Sun reaches you again.
And you keep walking,
Reminding yourself how far you’ve come
And how long can you go,
For you know it well, and know it now
That the universe is within you
And the world is yours to win.
One of the first things towards preservation of your mental health, is to find hope. In these days of the pandemic, if ever it all feels like a lot, I hope this helps you to find that hope, helps you believe in yourself.
This hope, this belief in yourself, the zeal to face life – I’ve learnt – only doubles when shared. I’m doing my bit, I hope you do yours.
