In today’s competitive world fitness plays a very vital role. Physical fitness is visible. On the contrary mental fitness is invisible. There are a bunch of people who thinks and prioritize physical fitness ignoring mental fitness. What happens to these people when they face failure? When they are in critical situations of life? When they get stressful moments? Can they easily overcome or loose the balance and suffer?  Here we see the vital role of MENTAL FITNESS. The people who are strong mentally can overcome or face any challenges of life and get back on right path. People follow different ways to achieve mental fitness. Like Meditation, Breathing exercises, Yoga, Laughter therapy, Music and Dance and the one which is widely spreading with faster and efficient results is – NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).

Subjective experience of excellence is NLP. NLP is the systematic study of human performance. This study of the structure of the subjective experience can be broken down into their smallest components (or chunks) and changed, modified, improved upon or removed. It is a unique model of how people learn, motivate themselves, and change their behaviour to achieve excellence in any endeavour. This allows a framework for growth and change at much deeper levels more quickly than was originally thought.

The term Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was introduced by Alfred Habdank Skarbek Korzybski. He is the man who quoted , “God may forgive you for your sins but your nervous system won’t.”

The history and heritage of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) goes a long way and involves efforts of several people like Richard Bandler (Co-founder), John Grinder (Co-founder), David Gordon, Robert Dilts, Leslie Cameron-Bandler, and many others. Their study begins in 1970s and have continue to grow till now. They had studied and decoded few of the experts from different fields like Milton Erickson (expert in clinical and medical hypnosis), Virginia Satir (expert in family reconstruction therapy), Fritz Pearls (expert in Gestalt therapy), Frank Farrelly (specialised in Provocative Therapy), Alfred Korzybski (Engineer, Mathematician, Philosopher and founder of the theory of general semantics) and Gregory Bateson (expert in System theory and Cybernetics).

NLP is an integration of several disciplines including neurology, psychology, linguistics, cybernetics and systems theory. NEURO because all of our experiences, both conscious and subconscious, are derived through and from our senses and central nervous system. LINGUISTIC because our mental processes are also coded, organized, given meaning and transformed through language. PROGRAMMING because people interact as a system in which experience and communication are composed of sequences of patterns or programs.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is training related to your mind functioning. It makes us aware of our mind power. It also helps us to know how to use our mind power. We are what our beliefs are.. NLP helps us to change beliefs in subconscious mind and remove unresourceful belief.

NLP helps us to understand Human Behaviour from different angles like behavioural patterns, representational systems, rythamic movements, etc. Once you understand it, (for you and for others around you) then it’s very easy for you to connect with them at same level which will build a strong connection with them. NLP will give you better understanding of a person or a situation.

NLP is also used to change anybody’s unresourceful state with resourceful state with different tools like metaphors, re-framing, social panorama, sub-modalities, clean language etc.

Person’s behaviour is a presentation of their belief systems. Some beliefs are good (resourceful) for us and some are bad (unresourceful). Unresourceful beliefs harm the person in different ways. That’s why it is important to remove such unresourceful and limiting belief. It helps people to reprogram their unconscious mind, a super natural power within a person. When a person’s unconscious mind directed in a right direction you can notice total transformation in a person.

NLP is used as a powerful therapy to people who are suffering from Depression, Addictions, Phobia’s, Stress related issues, lack of Confidence, low self-esteem etc. In medical science, doctors would not believe if phobias can be cured in just 5 minutes with advanced NLP. Even there are cases where NLP has cured people suffering from migraine, spondylosis, asthama etc. (It is because some diseases are psychosomatic).

Some of the modules of NLP are as below:

Clean Language: It is very important for any individual to use clean Language questions to understand other person’s requirement and to maintain strong relations. This helps people to find out the root hidden inside.

Meta Models: During our communication we do Distortion, Deletion and Generalisation of information. Which leads to miscommunication and wrong message delivery and understanding. To avoid such mess we need to understand Meta Models.

Rapport: It means being in sink or unconscious rhythmic synchronisation. NLP will teach you how we can build rapport with a person understanding their rhythmic movements, tonal variations, mirroring, pausing and lot more tricks. Rapport building is necessary for healthy relations.

Reframing: “Mindset matters a lot” isn’t it?? Situations keep on changing. It is your mindset that matters. Positive attitude leads to good outcome. In today’s tough competitive world it is most needed mind frame.

Representational System: A person grasps information or give it to others in their particular representational system. If we learn this, we will understand in which system a person communicates. Once you understand it you can quickly connect with that person using same system by practice.

Peak Performance State: This is a very very important state of mind. It is your unshakable state of mind which can achieve through certain specially designed exercises. It helps a person to keep focus, goal achievement, improve creativity, development of new neurons in brain, building confidence, concentration, etc. When you are in this state you are unstoppable from your achievement. No one (a person or a situation) can distract you.

Reprograming person’s Unconscious mind: Hope you all aware about the powers of our unconscious mind. Our mind is like an ice-berg. So conscious mind has very little role compared to huge role of unconscious mind in person’s life. “The unconscious mind records all 1001 little details the conscious mind neglects.” Imagine when we reprogram our unconscious mind with resourceful conditions and remove our limiting beliefs, unresourceful conditions; then what will be the results…?? There are lot of different techniques in NLP through which it can be done.

These are the few points amongst many modules of NLP which I felt very useful for anyone from any field to achieve Mental Fitness. NLP is really best and effective. It gives much faster results.

I have gone through various training programs in my professional life, out of which I will rank this one on top of the list. I strongly feel every person should learn NLP. It is helpful to any individual. The person may be a student, a coach, a therapists, a sports man, a doctor, a corporate or any one. NLP training benefits everybody in every field. It accelerate your growth. Removes your limiting beliefs. Keeps you mentally fit.
